Off
Teacher Workstation (TWS) is a program with many
functions. It runs online and will
allow you to take attendance, submit quarter and final grades, and locate
student information. Because TWS works
online, you are able to use it on any computer at school.
A. Logging onto Teacher Workstation
1. To get to TWS you must use Internet
Explorer. There are two ways to connect
to internet explorer:

Click
on the Internet Explorer icon located
at the lower left-hand of the screen.

OR

Click on the Start
button, Programs and then select Internet Explorer.

Once you have opened Internet Explorer,
South’s homepage should appear. There
are three ways you can connect to TWS:

Click once on the TWS button. The button is located above
the URL (address) box on the right-hand side of the screen.
OR
q
Open South’s homepage
at south.hinsdale86.org or the district’s homepage at www.hinsdale86.org and click once
on the Online Resources link located on the left hand side of the either
screen.


This will take you to the resource link page. Click on the TWS link.

The Enter
Network Password dialog box will appear.

You will need to enter
the same User Name and
5.
Password that you use
to login to the school computers.
6.
Click OK.
For safety purposes, do
not check the box next to "Save this
password in your password list".
If you check it, then anytime you are logged into a computer, anyone can
access your workstation.

If
you click on the button or link to open TWS and you are not taken to the Enter
Password Dialog box, select Live Database from
the down arrow and then click on OK.

Once you enter your password,
you will be connected to Pentamation's Teacher Workstation. To see a list of your classes

Click on Teacher
Workstation.

The attendance
Classes tab will open.
3.
You will see the teacher's
name above the class list.

The current
date and

a list of the
classes will be shown. The classes are not listed in order
of periods, but rather in the order of the course and section numbers.
6.
Click on the name
of the class you would like to select. The class you select will have a dark
blue background, while the other unselected
classes will have a turquoise or gray background.

Click on the Attendance
tab above the class list.

Any Questions? For any technical assistance with Teacher
Workstation, call the computer helpline at x6180.

District Web Site Address. If you do not see the TWS button
to click on to connect you, type in the URL:
www.hinsdale86.org and click on
the online resources link on the left side of the page and then the TWS link at the
bottom of the page.

List of Attendance Classes. The classes are not listed in
order of periods, but rather in the order of the course and section numbers.
Once you have selected the
class to record attendance, you need to check off the students that are absent.
1.
Click in the box
under the A column next to the student’s names
that are absent.
2.
If you mark a student
that wasn’t absent, to deselect the student, click on the box again.
3.
Once you have checked
off the absences, click on the Save button
at the top of the screen. You will
return to the previous page with the class list.

Even if you do not have any students absent for a period, you must still open the attendance
page for the class and hit the Save button.

You may reselect a class list to update
any absence changes at any time. Click on the Save button to post the corrections.

Attendance is due by 3:15
P.M.

TWS indicates when you have recorded
attendance for a class. After you record attendance for a class, a check
mark will appear in the entered column.
You can update your attendance at any time.

Turn your attendance in by 3:15 P.M. If you
weren't able to enter your attendance during class time, you can do it at any
time during the day.

Check the status of previous absences. The TWS attendance page will not only allow you to
take attendance for that day, but will also indicate the status of former and
current absences entered by the office.
D. Logging Off
After you have recorded and saved your attendances,
you need to close Internet Explorer.
For security purposes, TWS should not be opened and left unattended. To close Internet Explorer you have two
options:
1.
Click on the File
menu.
2.
Select Close.
OR
3.
Click on the X in the upper right-hand side of the window.
4.
You will be logged off
of TWS. In order to open it again, you will
need to open Internet Explorer and login into TWS.
