Supporting Your Student Leader

 

Each staff member can participate and support in H2 in many ways:

 

(1)               If you are supervising a classroom teacher…

§         Be in the classroom during the entire session.

§         Assist your H2 Student Leader with discipline situations.

§         Communicate behavior expectations to your students prior to the first H2 lesson.

§         Encourage and model H2 through your words and actions.

§         Be available to meet with your H2 Student Leader.

§         Provide feedback to your H2 Student Leader that will boost their confidence as well as improve their teaching skills.

 

(2)               Curriculum Integration…

§         The H2 curriculum is structured in a thematic manner. All freshmen will be exposed to the six pillars of Character Counts! with sophomores being taught the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. As you look at your curriculum, look for ways to integrate either the pillars or habits into your discussions, writing assignments, character analysis papers, lab reports, etc. Throughout the year, you will receive support and materials assisting you in integrating H2 in meaningful ways within your curriculum.

 

ALL STAFF ~

Everyone is ALWAYS welcome to participate in the H2 lessons. Guide the students in different ways of thinking. H2 Student Leaders are not teachers and several are inexperienced when it comes to leading a class in discussion. Please feel free to work with your Student Leader and mentor them in classroom leadership. Many of our Student Leaders expressed a desire to enter the teaching profession and your assistance could have a lasting impact on solidifying their decision to become a teacher!
