A Glance at Library Activities for November:

In collaboration with Hinsdale Central & Indian Prairie Public libraries, we hosted young adult author John Green, who spoke to over 150 students in our auditorium.

460 classes met in the library.  The librarians instructed a variety of research projects: using Noodlebib (an online tool for bibliographies); creating and delivering professional PowerPoint presentations; using Turnitin.com (a plagiarism prevention tool); and  literature appreciation. The majority of these research projects were English 3 classes working on their major research paper for the year.  Traditionally this project was conducted during 3rd quarter but because library and lab space has become difficult to schedule the E3 teachers opted undertake this project during 2nd quarter.

Librarians also reached beyond the four walls of the library to present lessons in the classroom for a few teachers.

Over 20 times, every area of the library was booked with classes, leaving few computers for individual students.

In addition to classes, an average 147 students utilized library resources during their study hall or lunch period each day.

Circulated 2149 items. An 12% increase from November 2008.
