The following components provide the foundation upon which Hinsdale South High School will strive to achieve, maintain, and continually refine its exemplary learning community.

 I.                     Students

Each student is important. Students will share responsibility in their development as well-rounded individuals. Opportunities for students will be available in all academic and extracurricular areas.

 II.                   Staff

Every staff member is an educator with high expectations for student success who will help students meet those expectations. All educators will model the importance of learning for life through their commitment to continuous professional growth. The school will develop and support outstanding educators whose strengths enhance the mission.

 III.                 Curriculum

 A challenging curriculum engages all students. Each department will continually refine curriculum in order to keep pace with changing standards and applications. A variety of courses will offer opportunities for students to meet their needs and broaden their interests.

 IV.                 Instruction

Students, staff, and curriculum determine instructional methods. Each educator will pursue those practices that best promote student achievement.

 V.                   Environment

 A safe environment, maintained by all members, promotes respect, supports learning, and protects instructional time.

Meaningful relationships within our community are essential. As a community, we will create interactions that will help us recognize and respect the value of good citizenship and the positive impact we have on improving our school, community, nation, and world.
