Check-in procedures

We would like to make sure that when you arrive at Hinsdale South, you know what you need to enter the building.  Please make sure you bring with you a state issued photo ID card and present it at the greeter’s desk upon entering the building.

Visitor Parking

Visitor parking is available in the front circle drive and across Clarendon Hills Road in the stadium lot.  We ask that you please utilize the parking spaces facing Clarendon Hills Road and in the angled spaces up near the school in order to leave the drives open for traffic.  This is extremely important before and after school hours.  If you are here to drop something off during the school day and there are no spaces available, please feel free to park along the curb near the school.  We ask that any vehicles parked along the curb be moved before the end of the school day to alleviate any traffic concerns.  Please refrain from parking in the staff/student lots.

Drop-Off Procedures

Traffic before and after school can get hectic.  Please use the driving areas area around the school to drop-off students.  Students may enter the building through the main entrance or the gym entrance doors.

Buses will drop-off and pick-up students in the circle drive loading zone off Clarendon Hills Road.  Students may enter the building through the Main Entrance.

Cell Phone Use

(1) All cell phone use is prohibited while driving in a school zone

(2) All cell phone use is prohibited while driving in a highway construction zone

(3) All cell phone use is prohibited if you are a novice driver

(4) Handheld cell phone use is prohibited while driving in Illinois. All Illinois drivers are prohibited from texting.

Senior Cap & Gown Assembly will be September 17 during period 3.  Jostens will distribute information and order packets for your cap & gowns at this time. Your cap & gown fee has already been paid at registration, so you will just need to fill out your measurement information. There is an order form for other graduation items such as announcements which are an additional charge. Your order form can be turned in at the assembly on September 17, or Jostens will be outside the cafeteria during lunch hours on September 19 and 26.

The athletic/activities bus will leave the school at 6:00 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Thursday and Friday.  Students will load the bus outside by the gym entrance. Please remind your student that they will need their student ID to ride the late bus and the driver will drop them off at a stop near their home.
The early bird routes run Monday – Friday and students that need to get to school for a class or early activity may ride the bus.  Students should be out at the bus stop 5 minutes before the route begins and will need their student ID to ride the bus.  Please review the Bus Route in order to determine which route works best for your student.

HSHS Earns IHSA “Do What’s Right!” State Final Sportsmanship Banner Girls’ Soccer State Finals

Hinsdale South Demonstrates Exemplary Sportsmanship

Hinsdale Township High School District 86 announced September 3, 2014 that the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) has awarded Hinsdale South High School a “Do What’s Right!” Sportsmanship Banner for the spring 2014 girls’ soccer state finals. The IHSA awards Sportsmanship Banners for schools that display exemplary sportsmanship at state final team events. An advisory committee made up of member school administrators and student leaders from around the state attend events and help judge the awards.

“It really is an award that is all about our students and their wonderful behavior and conduct,” said Hinsdale South Principal Stephanie Palmer. “How proud we are, not only of our athletes, but of our students who come and support each other at these events.”

Hinsdale South Athletic Director Kim Maloney added, “A Sportsmanship Banner is a community award that reflects how we behave at games, how we treat our opponents, how our parents are handling themselves at games both home and away.  Our theme, “Expect Victory,” over the past couple of years is about what our coaches and teachers expected from our student athletes as well as one another.  What a great message we sent across the state of Illinois.”

Once the banner is received from the IHSA, the school will proudly hang the banner in a prominent location.
