 Principal's Message

Hinsdale South Community:

The Hinsdale South Foundation is now accepting nominations for the 2013 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.  The Hall of Fame recognizes alumni and retired staff that have honored Hinsdale South by distinguishing themselves through career achievements, outstanding community service, and significant contributions to the Hinsdale South Community.  Nominations will only be accepted through the official nomination form, and must be submitted to the Hall of Fame Committee at HSHS no later than June 14, 2013.  Inductees will be honored at a November, 2013 ceremony.  The next meeting of the Hinsdale South Foundation will be held on Wednesday, May 22nd at 6:00pm in the Black and Gold Room at HSHS.

Important Dates for Class of 2013

On Friday, May 31st, the Class of 2013 will graduate from Hinsdale South High School.   Before we get to that important date, there are many other exciting events and deadlines to remember for our graduating seniors.

HSHS Journalism Celebrations

Congratulations to the Hinsdale South Vespa Yearbook staff for winning the IHSA Journalism Sectional at Lewis University in April by scoring a total of 52 points.  The team then advanced to the IHSA State Championship where they placed 11th with the following students medaling:  EmmaLee Hutter, Chloe Belczak, and  Sean Miller.

Class of 2014 Offering Exam Finals Care Packages
 
WHAT:  Finals Care Packages will include fresh fruit, crackers, pencil & erasers, a small bottle of water, and a small manipulative puzzle to boost brain power.
 
WHERE:  Students pick-up care packages near the student cafe after receiving an invitation to do so the previous week.
 
WHEN:  Morning of the 1st day of finals Monday, 6/3/13
 
WHY:  The Class of 2014 is supporting healthy choices and success on final exams for all students.
 
HOWParents/Guardians -- Please put $5.00 and the order form (attached) in an envelope addressed to Ms. Aquino or Ms. Howard, and drop it off at the front desk at the circle drive entrance or have your student turn it in the English Office - Room 251.  If you have more than one student, please fill out a form for each, but feel free to put them in one envelope with either cash or a single check payable (Hinsdale South High School) by Friday, May 24.
Friends -- Purchase during lunches Monday thru Wednesday 5/20, 5/21, 5/22
 
COST:  $5.00 each student

DG Township Peer Jury Program

 

All current Hinsdale South freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are invited to apply to be a peer juror for the Township of Downers Grove.  The role of a juror is to hear cases from an offender work collaboratively within a team environment.  Upon acceptance into the peer jury program, a juror must attend a one-day training session before being sworn in as a juror.  Additional training sessions are conducted during the year.  A juror participates in a minimum of six hearings per year.

Eagle Scout Congratulations

 

Congratulations to Zachary Kolar for attaining Eagle Scout ,which is the highest rank attainable in the scouting program of the Boy Scouts of America.  The title of Eagle Scout is held for life, thus giving rise to the phrase "Once an Eagle, always an Eagle."

Congratulations to Ethan Waterman for placing 2nd at the state level for the Illinois Drafter's Education Association drawing contest.  Also competing at the state level and placing were: Luke Tramler, Stacy Mo, and Ryan Cusick.
