 A College Panel

7:00 p.m. in the Hinsdale Central Community Room
(park & enter in front of school,

walk straight into the Community Room)

Each meeting begins with a brief introduction from a few HCHS Students who tutor, a great choice to learn & meet peers.

Join us on February 11 as we learn how to successfully navigate the college process from preparation in high school to selecting that university that fits your child. We will look beyond the selection process and discuss: what to do or expect once your child ‘is in’, when to disclose a disability for accommodations, what to expect regarding accommodations, etc. This talk is for parents with a student in any grade level (from eighth grade through high school) who are considering accommodations in college, or currently have an IEP or 504 plan. Meet Matt Wanzenberg, Jill Burstein, and Sally Parsons as they answer our questions and provide valuable information we may not even know to ask about (“you don’t know what you don’t know”):

2015 Illinois Arts Education Week Poster Contest

Congratulations to senior AP artist, Jessa Mae Mendiola! Her work was selected to appear on the front of the 2015 Arts Education Week poster that will be sent to all schools in Illinois. This year’s theme was “Art is Timeless” and represents fine art, drama, dance and music. The contest is sponsored by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) in cooperation with the Illinois Art Education Association (IAEA) and the Governor’s Office.  In addition, junior AP artist, Becca Timko received third place in the contest.  Both students will be invited to the fall IAEA conference to receive their contest awards. This is the third opportunity in a row that a Hinsdale South student has won this contest, as it is offered to high school students every other year. Former winners were Holly Johnson in 2013 and Nicole Maslow in 2011.

Hinsdale South's Child Care & Development class will be running a preschool program as part of our course curriculum.  This year the program will be offered during the spring semester. This program is available to children who are three to five years of age, but not yet in kindergarten.  Children must be potty trained.  Preschool will run on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:50am-11:30am. The program will run for approximately 7 weeks starting at the beginning of April.
